Measurements of Young’s Modulus, Poisson’s Ratio, and Tensile Strength of Polysilicon

چکیده
New techniques and procedures are described that enable one to measure the mechanical properties of polysilicon films that are 3.5 μm thick. Polysilicon is deposited onto a silicon substrate which is then etched away to leave a tensile specimen in the middle of the die. The grip ends of the structure are glued to the grips of a linear air bearing attached to a piezoelectrically actuated loading system. Strain is measured directly on the specimen with laser interferometry. The specimens are fabricated at the Microelectronics Center of North Carolina with their MUMPs process. The results of 48 tests on five different sets of MUMPs specimens yield the following material properties: Young’s modulus = 169 ± 6.15 GPa, Poison’s ratio = 0.22 ± 0.011, and tensile strength = 1.20 ± 0.15 GPa These values have a reasonably low coefficient of variation which demonstrates the consistency of both the processing and the measurement techniques.

Using an Elastic, Expandable Sealant System for Zonal Isolation of Maroon Wells: a Laboratory Study
An oil and gas well cementing in Gachsaran formation, where sustained annular pressure has been reported in many wells, presents a big challenge in Maroon field. The main challenges are preventing gas migration and achieving zonal isolation using a competent cement sealant system which is able to withstand downhole stresses and high temperatures during production cycles. Unlike conventional cem...

Despite its numerous potential applications, two-dimensional monolayer graphyne, a novel form of carbon allotropes with sp and sp2 carbon atoms, has received little attention so far, perhaps as a result of its unknown properties. Especially, determination of the exact values of its elastic properties can pave the way for future studies on this nanostructure. Hence, this article descr...
متن کاملA NEW CEMENT ADDITIVE TO IMPROVE THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF OIL WELL CEMENT AND TO ENHANCE ZONAL ISOLATION
The main purpose of cementing of the well is to provide effective zonal isolation for the entire life of wells. The standard cements cannot prevent loss of zonal isolation when the stress level in the well cement is severely fluctuated. Since elastic cements improve elastic properties, recently, a number of studies have been done in this area. For this purpose, a nanoparticle, named EX-RIPI, wa...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation of Size and Structure Effect on Tensile Characteristics of Symmetric and Asymmetric CNTs
In this research, the influence of structure on the tensile properties of single- walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is evaluated using molecular mechanics technique and finite element method. The effects of diameter, length and chiral angle on elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio of armchair, zigzag and chiral structures are investigated. To simulate the CNTs, a 3D FEM code is developed using the A...
